The Tempest

dates: Jan. 25 - 28, 2007
8 p.m. Thursday, Friday & Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday

Guest director, Brenda Williams, envisions the play as a “dark fairy tale” with all of the emotional elements of a fairy tale - deception, supposed loss, forgiveness and a happy ending. J. Shane McClure -- long time actor, director and designer with the company -- will play Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan who has been banished to an island, with Holly McNatt making her OSP debut as his daughter, Miranda. Ariel, a helpful spirit on the island, is Elizabeth Ann Okey and Caliban, the dark half-human monster is played by David Mays.

A shipwreck brings visitors from Milan to the island: Alonso, the King of Naples (Wil Rogers), his son Ferdinand (Jason Moore), the King’s butler and jester, Stefano and Trinculo (Michael Gibbons and Hal Kohlman) and Prospero’s brother, Antonio (Jack Ackemire). Others in the cast include J. R. Atkinson, Harvey Mackie, Andrew Grimes, Teresa Trail, Elizabeth Brooks and Donna Mackie.
