Dear Friends, Family and Patrons of Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park:
"We are such stuff as dreams are made on... "
This quote from "The Tempest" was one of Jack O'Meara's favorite quotes from Shakespeare. Jack and Kathryn McGill had a dream, and their dream became the reality of Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park some 27 years ago. But this dream can only continue with the support of all of us, friends, family and patrons of Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park.
This year OSP was able to move back to the renovated Myriad Gardens Water Stage, and with our storied history (twists and turns not for the faint of heart), this group of dedicated directors, actors and patrons braved the heat and downtown construction to prove that the Show Must Go On! We now have a unique opportunity, growing from the small group of enthusiastic actors and patrons in Edmond's Hafer Park, to a place in the heart of Oklahoma City. But this opportunity comes at a cost.
Jack was our brother, the son of Jack and Margaret O'Meara and the only boy with five sisters. OSP was five years old when he passed away in 1989 at the age of 41. He was a wonderful brother who loved his family and was totally dedicated to his quest to bring classical theatre to Oklahoma with his co-founder Kathryn.
The O'Meara family recognizes the challenges faced by OSP in order to continue to grow and prosper. Last years' fund raising effort generated $12,000. This year we challenge you to help achieve the goal of $20,000! Our family will start this effort with a gift of $3,000. We ask you to help us achieve or EXCEED this goal. Periodic updates will be posted to our website. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of our patrons to meet the budget required of a quality professional theatre. Thank you!
And remember...
"We are such stuff as dreams are made on... "
