OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park’s 2009 Summer Season opens Thursday, June 18, at 8 p.m. at the Myriad Gardens Water Stage in downtown Oklahoma City. The event marks the beginning of the premier outdoor theatre’s 25th Anniversary.

New this year, theatre-goers will have the opportunity to purchase wine, beer, cocktails and picnic dinners at the venue in addition to regular concessions such as water, soda and candy.

The state's premier classical theatre company will open the season with a production of As You Like It. A favorite of Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park's audiences, As You Like It follows Rosalind and her dear friend Celia as they escape the unjust law of the Duke and vanish into the forest in disguise.

Artistic Director Kathryn McGill and her artistic staff have successfully crafted a timeless story of mistaken identity, vengeance, humor and love. An unforgettable collection of characters and a dash of romance all spin As You Like It into a night of entertainment for the entire family.

The summer season will run through Sept. 5 and will include productions of George Bernard Shaw’s Misalliance, Hamlet and Twelfth Night. Production dates for shows are as follows:
