Dear Friend,
Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park has long been a part of central Oklahoma. The excitement of our 25th anniversary has not diminished as we proceed toward another year of providing quality classical theater to our patrons. In fact, this 26th season is proving to be an outstanding year with a new venue and energetic actors and technicians.
OSP has literally risen from the ashes (our stage was burned down twice), but has grown and prospered. We settled into our new home at the Myriad Gardens water stage in 2007 anticipating a long run in that venue. It was very much a surprise to us this last fall when we met with the City officials and learned that the Myriad Gardens would be closed for the summer of 2010 due to extensive remodeling. Once again, we had to find a place for us to perform. With the encouragement and support from Devon Energy, the City of Oklahoma City and the Myriad Gardens Foundation we are able to continue providing the Shakespearean experience in downtown Oklahoma City by moving to the Bicentennial Park.
It is back to the basics with the “back to the blankets” concept of old. As you settle in front of the Civic Center on the grass with the lights and sounds of downtown in the back ground and the changing skyline with the building of the new Devon tower behind you, I hope you will relax and enjoy the beauty of this great city.
Please accept my invitation to join us for our opening night parties this summer: Trattoria Il Centro (June 17); Iquana Mexican Grill (July 15) and Nonna's
Euro-American Ristorante and Bar (August 12).
Thank you for looking at our website. If you would be interested in volunteering in some capacity or make a donation to our not-for-profit organization of if you would be interested in serving on our board of directors, please feel free to contact me.
